March 31, Fineko/abc.az. Based on the analysis, the Alat Free Economic Zone is located in such an area that it is more attractive compared to other zones.

The free zone is adjacent to the Baku International Sea Trade Port and is situated at the intersection of such international transport corridors as North–South, East–West.

This gives investors the opportunity to use sea, rail and road transport.

ABC.AZ reports that the chairman of board of the AFEZ authorized body, Valekh Aleskerov, made the above-said statement.

"Our investors working in this territory know in advance that they can use both sea, rail and road transport. In addition, it should be borne in mind that companies producing high-tech products most often already ship their goods not by rail or highways, but by air. This allows them to save both time and money.

Therefore, we have signed an agreement with well-known airline Silk Way, and the company has begun construction of a large airport in the territory of the Alat FEZ. 750 hectares of land have been allotted for this airport. Not only will there be an airport here, but the entire infrastructure will be created for receiving, storing, distributing and other cargo operations of companies wishing to use this airport.

The airport's cargo and business aviation segments will be put into operation no later than the end of Q1 of 2027. The initial cargo transportation will reach 500,000 tons a year, and in the future it is planned to increase this figure to 1.5–2 million tons.

With the opening of the airport, our investors will be able to transport their goods by any type of transport, both during export and import. This, in turn, increases the attractiveness of the free zone. Of course, other companies can also send or receive their cargoes through the specified airport," Aleskerov said.
