November 21, Fineko/abc.az. With the expansion of industrialization, services, and logistics services in Azerbaijan, there will be a decrease in the share of the agricultural sector in country's economy.
ABC.AZ reports that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov stated this in an interview for Baku TV.
According to Mammadov, at the end of last year, the agricultural sector made up 5.7% of Azerbaijan's GDP: "In recent years, we’ve seen a gradual decline in the share of agriculture in GDP, although the agricultural sector is showing an upward trend. Actually, it's okay and there's nothing to worry about. Thus, with the expansion of industrialization, services, and logistics services in Azerbaijan, there will be a decrease in the share of the agricultural sector in the country's economy. There's nothing to worry about."
The minister justified this by saying that Azerbaijan is becoming a stronger, industrially developed country: "Compared to developed countries, this is the right direction. In countries with developed agricultural sector, the share of agriculture in their economy is about 1-2%. Therefore, in the agricultural sector, we focus our main efforts on productivity growth. Our goal is to ensure that people work efficiently."
