Norway’s sovereign wealth fund plans to expand investments in wind and solar energy

September 10, Fineko/abc.az. Norway’s sovereign wealth fund is considering plans to expand its investments in renewable energy, including power grids.

According to ABC.AZ, Harald von Heiden, Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Department at the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund, made the announcement. The fund already holds assets in wind and solar energy across Europe, with current investments totaling $8 billion. Plans are underway to increase this amount to as much as $38 billion in companies within the sector.

The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund first entered the renewable energy market in 2021, acquiring a 50% stake in the Borssele wind farm for €1.4 billion.
