August 5, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has called on the coastal countries to join forces to solve the problem of lowering the water level in the Caspian Sea. The appeal was made at the plenary session of the III UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in the Avaza national tourist zone of Turkmenistan.
The PM said that the biggest concern is the decrease in water levels in the Caspian Sea.
"We must join forces to solve this common problem faced by the Caspian littoral states. At the 6th Summit of the Heads of State of the Caspian Littoral States, held in Ashgabat in 2022, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, paid special attention to this environmental problem. At the suggestion of the President of Azerbaijan, steps are being taken to establish expert groups to study the causes and prevent the shallowing of the Caspian Sea. We must seize every opportunity to strengthen the landlocked developing countries, integrate our regions, and develop our partnership for a more prosperous world. Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to this cause with its experience, resources and goodwill," Asadov said.
