July 2, Fineko/abc.az. To date, over 3,700 foreign entrepreneurs have expressed interest in investing in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that chairman of the Small & Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) Orkhan Mammadov said this at the 6th ECO Business Forum.
According to Mammadov, the region where the ECO countries are located has enormous potential and there are the best opportunities for opening small and medium-sized enterprises.
"KOBIA focuses on supporting businesses that drive innovation, create jobs and establish regional trade links. We have created a network of SMB Houses and SMB Offices that provide direct assistance to entrepreneurs – from regulatory advice to partner search, from start-up training to export support," he said.
The head of KOBIA also stressed that Azerbaijan sees positive aspects in deepening cooperation with the ECO member countries. There are ample opportunities for joint ventures, supply chains and knowledge sharing, be it in agriculture, food processing, logistics, ICT or textiles.
"Investors and entrepreneurs are invited not only to Baku, but also to Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur. To date, we have received more than 3,700 requests from foreign investors willing to invest in these territories. Our goal is to build a strong, competitive SMB ecosystem in these regions with the active participation of our international partners," Mammadov said.
