Purchase of dollars in cash by banks from population exceeds sales

July 1, Fineko/abc.az. In Azerbaijan, banks' purchases of US dollars in cash from the population began to exceed sales volumes again, which led to the conversion rate remaining below the level of $1.7/manat.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank, that the banks sold a total of $123.14 million, while in May of this year they received $186.13 million from the population.
In the case of banks, this means that purchases exceed sales by $63 million.

The last time the difference in this volume was the highest since May 2023 in this direction ($70 million). In total, in the first five months, banks sold $888.55 million to the public and bought $729.11 million.

The excess of purchases over sales over the past month has reduced the average convertible exchange rate of 1 dollar to 1.6979 manats. In April, the average rate was 1.6988 manats.
