June 5, Fineko/abc.az. In May 2025, the Chinese Meteorological Administration successfully conducted an experiment on artificial precipitation in Xinjiang using drones.
ABC.AZ reports that two X-G500 drones made four flights to an altitude of 5,500 m and sprayed silver iodide over an area of more than 8,000 sq km. A total of 1 kg of the substance was used, which resulted in 78,200 cu m of precipitation - 3.8% more than the average for 50 years.
The effectiveness of the method was confirmed by satellite observations, monitoring and modeling on a supercomputer, which showed a similar increase of 73,800 cu m (by 4.3%). China is actively developing climate impact technologies, unlike Western countries where such experiments are prohibited. Scientists emphasize that the method does not work in all weather conditions.
