U.S. to allocate $5 bn to Total Energies for a gas project in Mozambique

March 14, Fineko/abc.az. The United States will allocate almost $5 billion in loan funds for the LNG production project in Mozambique to Total Energy S.

ABC.AZ reports that construction has been postponed since 2021 because of mass riots.

The situation in the region has now stabilized. In December, Mitsui's partner company announced that final preparations were underway for the resumption of construction. Mozambique's Energy Minister Estevao Pale is also awaiting confirmation of support from the UK and the Netherlands.

The Mozambique LNG project, in which Total Energies owns 26.5% of shares, is supposed to make Mozambique a major LNG producer in southern Africa.
