January 30, Fineko/abc.az. Billionaire Senator from Dagestan Suleiman Kerimov (No 12 in the Forbes 2024 ranking of 125 billionaires in Russia, net worth $10.7 billion) owned a stake in Elon Musk's American aerospace company SpaceX (net worth, according to Forbes Real-time, $412.9 billion) even after he was sanctioned by the U.S.

ABC.AZ reports, citing Bloomberg’s four sources, including two former senior officials of the Department of Homeland Security.

According to them, Kerimov owned a stake in SpaceX through the Heritage Trust, based in Delaware, since 2017. Initially, this share was 1%.

A year later, in April 2018, Kerimov was sanctioned by the U.S. and named by Washington as one of those who "play a key role in promoting Russia's malicious actions". The actions of the U.S. Treasury Department were aimed at blocking Kerimov's assets with American companies, the agency notes.
