December 23, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, Azerbaijan increased the production of natural gas, which is the raw material for nitrogen fertilizers, in the context of lower export prices, and also significantly increased sales

abroad compared to last year.

ABC.AZ reports that in the first 10 months of the year, our country exported 454,000 tons of carbamide or nitrogen fertilizers (76%, or 256,000 tons more versus Jan-Oct 2023).

Over Jan-Oct 2024, Azerbaijan received a total of foreign currency for $102 million for carbamide sold abroad.

The carbamide production plant, built on the territory of the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park, was commissioned in January

2019. The plant is capable of producing 650,000-660,000 tons of carbamide a year, using 435 million cu m of natural gas as a raw material. 70% of the production volume is intended for export.
