Qatar Energy builds world's largest plant on production of ‘blue’ ammonia

November 28, Fineko/abc.az. Qatar Energy has launched the construction of the world's largest plant for the production of so-called "blue" ammonia (produced from natural gas with emission capture) in the south-east of the country.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the company, the capacity of the new asset will amount to 1.2 million tons of ammonia annually, production will include a unit for pumping and storing CO2 at 1.5 million tons a year.

For Qatar Energy itself, this will be a new step in development of clean energy, the company notes and emphasizes that it is building the new plant itself, partner assistance will be provided only by the local Qatar Fertilizer Company. The production of "blue" ammonia will also become another level of gas application in the country.
