Cotton factories to be built in Azerbaijan

November 19, Fineko/abc.az. In the next 3 years, new plants will be constructed for innovative and more efficient processing of raw cotton, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Rovshan Mahmudov, CEO at Prime Cotton.

He pointed out that as a result of transition to a new processing process, the loss of quality of cotton accumulated in stacks will be prevented.

"75 percent of the raw cotton produced in Azerbaijan is exported. We look forward to the early development of the textile industry so that spinning and textile factories and plants flourish in this area. In this case, we will stop selling raw cotton in the form of refined cotton and redirect it to the domestic market. This will have positive impact on development of country's textile industry and create conditions for opening of jobs," Mahmudov said.

In addition, it was noted that about 6,500 jobs were created at the enterprise, and in the season this figure reaches 9,000.

"This is a pretty big indicator, and we want to expand it as we go along. This, in turn, will be very effective both for country's economy and for development of the regions," Mahmudov added.
