China's CHN Energy has connected the first batch of solar panels to the grid

November 16, Fineko/abc.az. Chinese company CHN Energy has successfully connected the first batch of solar panels to the grid as part of construction of a 1 GW offshore solar power plant in Kenli district of Shandong Province.

ABC.AZ informs that it is reported that the "floating" solar station is located 8 km from the east coast of Dongying city, Shandong Province and occupies more than 1,220 hectares. The project is expected to generate 1.78 billion kWh of electricity annually, which is enough to meet the needs of approximately 2.67 million urban residents in China.

The power plant includes 2,934 solar panels mounted on steel platforms with fixed pile foundations. Each platform has length of 60 m and width of 35 m.

According to CHN Energy, this project is "the first and largest of its kind".
