Cocoon production in Azerbaijan has sharply decreased

October 28, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan produced 429,000 tons of meat in live weight, 1,694,200 tons of milk, 1.755 billion eggs, 14,800 tons of wool, 239.4 tons of cocoons for Jan-Sept 2024, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

Compared with Jan-Sept 2023, production of meat grew by 1.0%, milk - by 0.7%, eggs - by 5.6%, while production of wool declined by 1.9% and cocoons - by 32.9%. The gross agricultural output increased by 0.8%, including livestock production by 1.4% and crop production by 0.3% against Jan-Sept 2023.

At that, as of October 1, 2024, the country produced 3.134 million tons of cereals and legumes (or 1.1% more against Jan-Sept 2023), including corn, 1.712 million tons (1.1% more) of vegetables, 892,300 tons (9.1% less) of potatoes, 794,400 tons (0.9% more) of fruits and vegetables, berries, 490,000 tons (12.0% more) of melons, 170,900 tons (6.3% less) of grapes, 86,100 tons (80.6% more) of sugar beet, 29,900 tons (12.4% more) of sunflower, 19,700 tons (38.1% more) of cotton, 4,100 tons (43.1% more) of tobacco, 997.5 tons (3.7% more) of green tea leaves.
