September 27, Fineko/abc.az. Absheron Saffron Ltd, the largest saffron producer in Azerbaijan, has expanded saffron crops by 3 hectares this year, ABC.AZ reports, quoting company’s founder Khalil Jafarov.

He addde that this year saffron was planted on an area of 13 hectares out of 20 hectares:

"Last year the yield was low due to the hot weather. But this year we are waiting for the harvest of 40-50 kg of saffron. So far, we’ve managed to collect a maximum of 30 kg of saffron. We currently have up to 30 kg of saffron reserves."

Absheron Saffron Ltd, which has been operating since 2016, grows saffron in Zira settlement of Khazar district of Baku.
