Growth observed in production of meat, milk and eggs in Azerbaijan

July 16, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Jun 2024, the country produced 290,300 tons of meat in live weight, including poultry, 1.134 million tons of milk, 1.189 billion eggs, 13,800 tons of wool, 239.5 tons of cocoons.

Compared with 1st half of 2023, production of meat grew by 1.7%, milk by 1%, eggs by 7.4%, while production of wool decreased by 1.6% and cocoons by 32.8%, ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee.

As of July 1, 2024, there are 7,132,100 heads of sheep and goats, 2,505,100 heads of cattle, including 1,240,100 heads of cows and buffaloes, 3,905 heads of pigs in the country.

Cows and buffaloes make up 49.5% of the cattle population. For Jan-Jun 2024, poultry enterprises produced 45,000 tons of poultry meat in live weight (for Jan-Jun 2023 - 40,300 tons) and 584.2 million eggs (for Jan-Jun 2023 - 510.4 million). In general, the total number of birds in these enterprises reached 11,563,300 heads, an average of 127 eggs were obtained from each laying hen.
