June 25, Fineko/abc.az. The Indian government has imposed restrictions on wheat stocks in all states and union territories of the country until the end of March 2025, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
The decision of the Indian authorities was made "in order to ensure food security, prevent the accumulation of [wheat] and its unfair speculation". Inventory limits for wholesalers are limited to 3,000 tons, for retailers - 10 tons for each outlet. As for large network sellers, they are also allowed to store 10 tons for each outlet and 3,000 tons in all their warehouses.
The decree limiting the volume of wheat stocks in India will be valid until March 31, 2025. Legal entities will have to declare information about the state of their reserves and regularly update it on a special government portal, and if their reserves exceed the established limit, they will have to bring them to the established limits within 30 days.
