June 20, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan needs a modern irrigation system.

ABC.AZ reports that Ilhama Gadimova, a member of the COP29 Organizing Committee and Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, said about this during her speech at the 29th high-level meeting on the theme "The path to COP29: a sustainable & lasting future".

She added that the Azerbaijani government has provided significant financial support in the form of subsidies for the construction of an irrigation system for totally 93 million manats:

"This is about $55 million for the installation of an irrigation system on 38,000 hectares of land over the past 5 years. But that's not enough. We must continue and at the same time cover all irrigated areas with a modern irrigation system to save water."
