June 5, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) intends to invest in renewable energy projects.

ABC.AZ reports that SOCAR president Rovshan Najaf said about this on the first day of the Baku Energy Forum. He added that the company cooperates with the most famous large energy companies in the world for this purpose: "It is impossible without such cooperation."

Najaf noted that although SOCAR was established as an oil & gas company, it already functions as an energy company: "The special role of the energy company of Azerbaijan is to ensure the energy security of neighboring countries and, of course, homes."

He stressed that SOCAR aims to achieve zero reduction of carbon emissions by 2050: "We believe we’ll achieve these goals."
