April 24, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani authorities plan to return more than 5,000 people to Lachin by 2026.

ABC.AZ reports that president’s special representative in Lachin district Maxim Mammadov said about this during a conference within international forum "COP29 and Green View for Azerbaijan".

"We plan to repatriate more than 5,000 people to Lachin by the end of 2026. And by 2035, in general, the population of Lachin will be about 12,000-13,000 people," he said.

Mammadov also stressed that the mine problem in Lachin poses a serious obstacle for residents and businesses, especially considering that the district is included in the list of the 10 largest regions of Azerbaijan.

"To date, about 2,000 residents have returned to the city of Lachin. More than 500 new houses and more than 150 new residential complexes have been built here," he added.
