December 30, Fineko/abc.az. Yarag-Kazmalyar automobile checkpoint on the border with Azerbaijan has opened with the participation of Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Saveliev via teleconference, ABC.AZ reports with reference to TASS.

"I allow movement," Saveliev addressed during the symbolic start of traffic at the automobile checkpoint.

The minister noted that the reconstruction of Yarag-Kazmalyar point made it possible to increase capacity of freight transport more than 2-fold. The number of traffic lanes has increased from 14 to 22.

"This year we have set a record on the passage of cargo vehicles - more than 2,000 trucks (10% more than in 2022)," Saveliev said.

Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the head of the Dagestan Cabinet of Ministers, said that reconstruction of Yarag-Kazmalyar point will increase both the export of Russian goods and the import of international goods to Russia.
