December 19, Fineko/abc.az. Fish species with low yields are also not suitable for farms in terms of providing feed.
ABC.AZ reports that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov stated about this, adding that all this leads to inefficient use of natural and artificial reservoirs and lands, the use of agricultural land for fish farming and their withdrawal from circulation, high prices for fish and fish products, an increase in import volumes and a decrease in export opportunities.
"In addition, given that fresh water and land resources for agricultural production are limited, expansion of fish farming activities requires the introduction of innovative biotechnologies, including closed water supply systems and development of marine aquaculture," the minister said.
Mammadov added that as a result of fishing and reclamation activities in inland waters, it is possible increasing the productivity of fish products in the country:
"We consider it important to increase healthy and sustainable fisheries in an industrial way that meets modern requirements, taking into account international experience in the field of aquaculture development in our country, improving the structure of fisheries management, simplifying procedures for entrepreneurs wishing to engage in aquaculture. We must work closely with relevant government agencies, international organizations and stakeholders to achieve effectiveness in these issues."
