September 15, Fineko/abc.az. The approval of the upper limit of prices for medicines by the Tariff (Price) Council will allow the population to purchase medicines at a lower price.

ABC.AZ reports that with introduction of amendments to the Law on Medicines by the relevant presidential decree, the Tariff Council, which includes representatives of 13 state institutions, has been entrusted with approving the upper limit of wholesale and retail prices for medicines.

In this regard, a regular meeting of the Tariff Council was held on September 15, 2023. At the meeting, it was decided to apply wholesale and retail prices for all medicines approved so far as the upper limit.

Before this decision was made, there was single price for medicines, and medicines were sold at this single price in all pharmacies. Now these prices per unit are approved as the maximum, which means that medicines can be sold at prices below the approved ones.

The decision taken will improve the availability of medicines, create more favorable competitive environment in this area and enable the population to buy medicines at lower price than regulated prices.

The tariffs will come into force on September 15, 2023. The decision can be found in section "Decisions of the Council" on the official website of the Tariff Council (www.tariff.gov.az).
