August 31, Fineko/abc.az. In the first half of 2023, the countries of the European Union (EU) imported 75,760 tons of carbamide from Azerbaijan for 30.174 million euros.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) that this is 8.6 times more in quantitative terms and 5.6 times more in monetary terms compared to the six months of 2022.
After a month-long break, in June, Azerbaijan resumed deliveries of carbamide to the EU countries, exporting small volumes to Poland (0.18 thousand tons for 0.071 million euros), for the first time this year.
The top five importers of carbamide in January-June included Romania with 45,865 tons (5.2-fold increase) worth 17.624 million euros (3.3-fold increase), Italy with 19,4400 tons worth 7.835 million euros (there were no deliveries a year ago), Greece with 5,500 tons for 2.818 million euros (there were no deliveries a year ago), Slovenia with 4,753 tons worth EUR 1.811 million (there were no deliveries a year ago) and Poland with 180 tons worth 0.071 million euros (there were no deliveries a year ago).
According to Eurostat, in 2022, the EU countries imported 78,651 thousand tons of carbamide from Azerbaijan (an increase of 31.9% compared to 2021) worth 53.784 million euros (an increase of 1.7 times or 74.2%).
SOCAR Carbamide Plant is engaged in the production of mineral fertilizers in Azerbaijan.
