The European Union has noted that the member states have filled 90% of their natural gas reserves, President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen said, according to ABC.AZ .
Using the phrase "gas reserves in the EU have reached 90% much ahead of time," von der Leyen said that the accumulated gas will contribute to the security of energy supply in winter.
Von der Leyen pointed out that they are abandoning Russian gas, saying that they continue to work on increasing energy sources.
According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, today the occupancy rate of natural gas storage facilities in the member countries is 90.12%.
Before the Russian-Ukrainian war, EU countries imported 40% of natural gas from Russia. Since the beginning of the war, the transportation of natural gas to the EU in Russia has fallen to 8%.
