July 4, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan does not have a seismological map that meets modern requirements.
ABC.AZ reports that Prof. Gurban Yetirmishli, director general of the Republican Center of the Seismological Service under the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Academy of Sciences’ corresponding member, stated at a press conference on the earthquake that occurred in the Caspian Sea on July 4.
He added that work in this direction is currently underway jointly with the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
He noted that the last time such a map was developed in Azerbaijan was in 1957: "A proposal for a new map was made from our side, work is underway."
On July 4, at 00:01 on local time, an earthquake was recorded in the Caspian Sea. The earthquake of about 6 points was felt in Guba, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, up to 5-4 points in Sumgait, on the Absheron Peninsula and nearby areas. The magnitude of the tremors was 5.5, and the depth was 65 km. There is no destruction and no casualties.
