June 16, Fineko/abc.az. The import of cars for various purposes to Azerbaijan increased by 40.4% up to 40,264 motor vehicles for Jan-May 2023.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Customs Committee that our country imported automobiles for $611.968 million for the past 5 months of 2023 (65.6% more versus Jan-May 2022).

The import of motor vehicles intended for transportation of 10 or more people, including the driver, decreased 4.8-fold to 61 vehicles or $4.117 million, the import of automobiles and other vehicles, mainly intended for transportation of people, grew by 41.6% up to 37,394 vehicles for $549.138 million.

Among them, 5,884 are cars powered by both an internal combustion engine and electric motor for $125.575 million, and 812 are cars driven only by electric motor for $34.383 million. This means an increase of 15.8% and 6.2 times, respectively.

In addition, imports of motor vehicles for cargo transportation increased by 42.2% to 2,633 vehicles for $39.490 million, and imports of special purpose motor vehicles by 35.4% up to 176 vehicles for $19.223 million.
