May 24, Fineko/abc.az. As of May 1, 2023, the assets of the banking sector of Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 45.58 bn (13.5% more than on May 1, 2022), ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

In April 2023, compared with March, banks’ total assets grew by 1.6% or by AZN 739.5 million.

AZN 19.166 bn of assets accounted for the net loans given to customers. This year, the sector's loan portfolio has grown by 15.1%, and the share of loans in assets from 41.5% to 42%.

The liabilities of the banking sector increased by 13.1% to AZN 39.77 bn, including the deposit portfolio by 13.1% to AZN 32.366 bn. Of them, AZN 11.955 bn are deposits of individuals, and AZN 20.4 bn are deposits of legal entities. During the year, the funds of the population in banks increased by 17.2%, and the funds of enterprises in banks by 13%.

This year, banks' liabilities to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan have decreased 3-fold to AZN 108.6 million.

The balance sheet capital of the sector grew by 16.5% to AZN 5.8 bn.
