April 28, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese electronics manufacturer Sony has presented its results for Q4 and entire fiscal year 2022, which ended on March 31.
ABC.AZ reports that for the quarter the company received revenue of 3.06 trillion yens ($22.7 bn), which is 35% more than a year earlier and higher than analysts' forecasts.
For the entire year, the company received revenue of 11.5 trillion yens ($84.7 bn) and operating profit of 1.21 trillion yens ($8.9 bn) - this is higher than its own forecast for operating profit (1.18 trillion yens) and is a record for the company.
Sony managed to achieve such indicators mainly due to operations related to video games and the sale of chips for cameras, which are actively used by many smartphone manufacturers. For the entire fiscal year 2022, Sony sold 19.1 million PlayStation 5 game consoles, which is higher than its own forecast of 18 million. A year earlier, the company was able to sell only 11.5 million consoles due to logistical problems related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sales of chips and sensors for cameras at Sony increased by 36% over the year.
