March 13, Fineko/abc.az. Some of the cotton fields guaranteed by agricultural insurance last year were affected by storms, hail and the actions of third parties.

ABC.AZ reports that at the event held on 13 March in the Aghdam branch of MKT Istehsalat Kommersiya LLC, payments to cotton farmers who insured their fields were presented.

Compensations for about AZN 76,000 were paid to 55 farmers affected by the hail of cotton fields. The total amount of damage to cotton production exceeds AZN 116,000.

In 2022, cotton sowing was carried out in 16 districts of the country on an area of more than 100,000 hectares, of which 32,000 hectares were allotted by the Agricultural Insurance Fund. In general, the cost of insured cotton fields amounted to about AZN 90 million. And the total insurance premium for export-potential cotton production amounted to AZN 1.1 million (37-fold more than last year). 510 people using agricultural insurance services are individuals, and 218 are legal entities.
