China reduced oil and gas imports in 2023

March 7, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past 2 months natural gas supplies to China decreased by 9.4% year-on-year, amounting to 17.92 million tons, and oil by 1.3%, falling to 84.06 million tons, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

According to GAC’s website, in value terms, gas imports decreased by 9.2%, to $11.96 bn. The indicator of the purchase of oil abroad in monetary terms decreased by 5.3% to $49.5 bn.

According to official statistics, China's oil imports increased by 41.4% in value terms in 2022, to $365.5 bn and gas by 25.7%, to $70.01 bn.

The physical volume of energy purchased abroad for the same period amounted to 508.27 million tons (decrease of 0.9%) and 109.24 million tons (decrease of 9.9%), respectively.
