Property rights are violated in this case

March 2, Fineko/abc.az. During the demolition of buildings and private houses in Baku, apartments from buildings under construction or compensation are offered to the population as a pilot project.

ABC.AZ reports that sometimes the amount of compensation provided to citizens causes great dissatisfaction. So, residents who disagree with the construction company, referring to the fact that the money provided to them is not enough, refuse to leave their homes.

Property expert Ramil Osmanli said that in the pilot projects built in Baku in recent years, compensation payments to citizens in most cases are not carried out:

"An agreement is reached in the order of compensation. That is, if someone has housing on the territory where the building is under construction, housing is provided taking into account the 20 percent figure corresponding to the existing property of this person. I think this is the right approach.

But there are exceptions, and some people disagree, preferring to take money. In this matter, construction companies are not provided with any figure so that compensation to residents does not exceed 1,500 manats. The figures must be agreed between the investor and the owner. If a housing and construction cooperative sells 1 sq m without repair for 2,500 manats, then the offer to a citizen of 1,500 manats per sq m is absurd. This is interference with property rights and their violation."
