Electricity consumers’ rights increase

February 21, Fineko/abc.az. The number of rights of electricity consumers is increasing.

ABC.AZ reports that this is reflected in the new draft law “On Electric Power Industry”, discussed today at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology.

Under the draft law, the rights of the electricity consumer are as follows.

- connection to electrical networks;

- obtaining information about the terms of the contract, tariffs (prices) before concluding the contract with the supplier;

- to be provided with reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity in accordance with the quality indicators envisaged in the electricity supply contract;

- storage of electricity for own consumption;

- to demand compensation by the supplier for damage caused as a result of non-fulfillment of the terms of the contract for the supply of electric energy in the agreed volume or in low quality;

- receipt of a notification from the supplier in the cases defined by this Law;

- the choice of one of the methods and systems of payment for electricity offered by the supplier.
