June 18, Fineko/abc.az. A sharp increase in the production and export of copper concentrate has been recorded in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that for Jan-May 2026, the country produced 10,140 tons of copper concentrate (11.1-fold more against Jan-May 2025). As of June 1, 2026, 6,360 tons of stocks of finished products were formed in the warehouses of industrial enterprises.
According to customs statistics, for Jan-Apr 2026, Azerbaijan exported 40,720 tons of copper ore and concentrates for $87.98 million. A year earlier, exports totaled 5,170 tons for $6.99 million. Thus, exports of copper ore and concentrates grew 7.9-fold year-on-year, and export earnings 12.6-fold.
According to calculations, the average price of copper ore and concentrates exported in the first 4 months of 2026 was $2,160.62 per ton. This figure in the 2025 same term was $1,351.52. As a result, the average export price grew by 59.9% over the year.
Over Jan-Apr 2026, Georgia became the main buyer of copper ore and concentrates. Azerbaijan exported 39,960 tons of products to this country (about 98% of overall exports). 762.1 tons of products were shipped to Switzerland.Georgia, Switzerland and Uzbekistan were among the countries where Azerbaijan exported this product for Jan-May 2025.
