March 30, Fineko/abc.az. The opinion is often put forward that in order to solve the road transport problems of Baku, it is necessary to move the capital to another city, ABC.AZ reports, citing traffic expert Arshad Huseynov.

He added that it is necessary to take into account that the transfer of the capital is an idea that will cost billions for the State Budget.

"If we spend this money on solving the problems of Baku's mobility according to a clearly calculated plan, we’ll see serious changes. Baku is not only the capital (political center) of Azerbaijan, but also the main business center (industry, services, education, science, culture, etc.). Therefore, the transfer of any central authority from Baku to anywhere will not change the second status of Baku (business center). Most of those who moved the capital to smaller cities in the world actually pursued the goal of ridding employees of higher authorities of noise, traffic jams and other uncomfortable factors of large cities. That is, such a transfer did not give anything to the population of that former major capital. On the contrary, sometimes the transfer of the capital led to the fact that a large city that had lost this status remained, albeit to a lesser extent, without attention, lagged behind in infrastructure development. In a word, the transfer of the capital can make Baku even worse," the expert believes.
