October 12, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and Cambodia can expand trade relations.

Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov made this statement at the Azerbaijan-Cambodia business forum held in Baku.

According to Jabbarov, the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 30 years, and the political dialogue between them is consistent.

"I think it's fair that our economic ties match the level of political relations. The trade turnover between our countries is growing, but, of course, it does not yet reflect the real potential of bilateral cooperation. Our countries have complementary advantages, and each of them can provide the other with opportunities to enter broader markets," the minister noted.

According to Jabbarov, political trust between Azerbaijan and Cambodia creates the basis for the development of economic cooperation.

"We know our strengths and always try to be aware of our weaknesses. We urge public and private companies not to enter the markets of other countries without an invitation. At that, in the countries where they are invited and where they have gained the trust necessary for doing business and investing, we encourage them to follow the established rules and become full participants in the local business environment.

Cambodia is one of the countries where we support our companies in establishing new partnerships and gaining trust. The foundation of this relationship was laid many years ago. We are proud of the political trust and friendship between our leaders. We are also proud that we have had and still have worthy ambassadors. The capital has a long, rich and proud history of university research and joint educational initiatives," Jabbarov said.
