July 2, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey and Iraq discussed development of the oil pipeline connecting the Iraqi Kirkuk with the Turkish port of Ceyhan. This was the subject of a meeting between Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and the leadership of the Iraqi oil ministry and the foreign ministry.

Alparslan Bayraktar reminded on his social networks that the current interstate agreement regulating the pumping of oil along this route is valid until July 27. The parties continue to negotiate the text of the new contract, according to Reuters. The Turkish side, according to the minister, intends to actively cooperate with the new Iraqi government in order to maximize the use of existing energy infrastructure and supplement it with new connections.

Last month, Baghdad proposed extending the current gas pipeline agreement for another year in order to gain time for additional consultations, but Ankara made it clear that it was not willing to extend the agreement under the same conditions.
