July 1, Fineko/abc.az. Since July 1, Ukraine has switched to E10 fuel, which contains up to 10% bioethanol, as part of the harmonization of the market with European standards.
ABC.AZ reports that this decision increases the purchase price of fuel by $15-25 per ton, but at the same time simplifies the import and circulation of fuel by eliminating separate formulations for the domestic market.
Experts warn that for cars produced in the 1990s and earlier, the use of such gasoline may be undesirable: bioethanol can have negative effect on the rubber elements of the fuel system.
At the same time, Ukraine considers bioethanol as a promising export direction and plans to develop its production in the future.
