July 1, Fineko/abc.az. The volume of bank loans given to small and microenterprises is increasing in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Central Bank, that as of the end of May 2026, the volume of loans given to small enterprises reached 1.76 billion manats (17.46% or 258.46 million manats more versus Jan-May 2025).
Loans given to micro-entrepreneurs grew even faster, increasing up to 3.81 billion manats (a rise of 19.31% or 615.76 million manats in annual terms).
Cabinet’s Resolution No. 556 defines the classification of business entities into micro, small, medium, and large categories, and this classification is primarily based on the number of employees and annual income.
According to the decree, microenterprises include enterprises with 1-10 employees and annual income of up to 200,000 manats.
Small enterprises include those with 11-50 employees and an annual income of 200,000-3 million manats.
Medium-sized enterprises include those with 51-250 employees and annual income of 3 million-30 million manats.
Large business entities are defined as enterprises with more than 250 employees and annual income of more than 30 million manats.
