Turkish Fintech Firm Midas Enters the Consumer Payment Systems Market

June 19, Fineko/abc.az. Midas, a prominent Turkish financial technology (fintech) enterprise, has officially applied to the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) for an electronic money institution license to operate in the consumer payment systems segment.

According to ABC.AZ, the company's founder and CEO, Egem Eraslan, stated in a phone interview with Bloomberg that the firm—officially registered as Midas Finansal Teknolojiler A.Ş.—is developing a digital wallet and prepaid card infrastructure designed to enable clients to seamlessly spend funds directly from their accounts.

Eraslan added that, as part of this incoming service expansion, the company is also evaluating the launch of both domestic and international money transfer channels.

Note: Midas is a domestic Turkish corporation that offers retail investment access to global equity markets and Borsa Istanbul. According to official CBRT data, there are currently 57 licensed electronic money institutions operating in Turkey. This strategic pivot by Midas highlights its long-term objective to evolve beyond a standalone brokerage platform into a comprehensive, large-scale financial ecosystem.
