CBRT: Core Inflation Trend Maintained Deceleration in June

22:00 - 18.06.2026

June 18, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) noted in its June monetary policy committee minutes that preliminary indicators point to a sustained decline in the underlying core inflation trend throughout June.

According to ABC.AZ, while policymaker summaries highlighted that market participants' inflation expectations ticked upward in May, the central bank expects the broader disinflationary trajectory to hold, supported by favorable underlying sector metrics:

  • Energy and Transport Moderation: Despite recent domestic adjustments to electricity and natural gas tariffs, global pullbacks in Brent crude prices have driven domestic fuel costs lower. Consequently, aggregate domestic energy prices are modeled to remain flat in June, easing broader transport service inflation.

  • Food and Seasonal Softening: Unprocessed food prices saw a downward correction led by volatile vegetable supplies. In the core goods group, the onset of the traditional summer discount season in June is projected to anchor price growth in clothing and footwear to marginal levels.

  • Services and Rents: Adjusted for seasonal dynamics, monthly services inflation is on track to slow down, with residential and commercial rent indices projected to maintain their cooling trend.
