June 18, Fineko/abc.az. US President Donald Trump stated that Apple and Intel have agreed to jointly develop and manufacture chips in the U.S. The project will be part of a strategy to bring high-tech manufacturing back to the country.
ABC.AZ informs that Trump stressed that the return of high-tech manufacturing, especially in the field of semiconductors, is a key priority of US industrial policy. Cooperation between Apple and Intel can strengthen the national supply chain amid dependence on Asia. He also noted the agreements with Nvidia and Tesla on development of production in the USA.
Intel is partially owned by the state: previously, the U.S. received about 10% of the company, and now the value of this share, according to Trump, exceeds $60 billion.
The statements were made against the backdrop of intensifying global competition in the semiconductor industry, where the U.S., China, South Korea, Taiwan and the EU are increasing investments in the production of microchips.
