June 17, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani banks currently have free assets worth approx. 20 bn manats, which can be channeled into the economy.

ABC.AZ informs that Shahin Mahmudzade, Chief Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, made the above-said statement  at the 20th Global Forum on Islamic Finance within the 51st annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku.

He added that the CBA, as a guarantor of stability, can help strengthen confidence in the financial system.

"The main issue is how to effectively allocate and use capital. There are three sources of financial resources in the country: fiscal, private sector, and international finance," Mahmudzade said.

He pointed out that the share of problem loans in the banking sector is less than 3%: "Liquidity exceeds the requirements by more than twice, the capital adequacy ratio is about 18%, which is 50% higher than the norm. Over the past three years, credit growth has outpaced economic growth."
