February 20, Fineko/abc.az. The large sugar beet harvest has led to multimillion-dollar losses for the largest European processors.

ABC.AZ reports that German Südzucker AG is preparing to write off €450-550 million, and no dividends will be paid this year. Austria's Agrana Beteiligungs-AG expects unscheduled expenses of €45-55 million, which will be taken into account when calculating operating profit.

Last fall, producers urged farmers to cut crops in order to support sugar prices.
