Microsoft's market capitalization drops by $357 bn

16:10 - 30.01.2026

January 30, Fineko/abc.az. On Thursday, Microsoft shares plummeted, declining 10% and losing $357 bn in market capitalization. By the end of Thursday's trading session, Microsoft's total market capitalization was $3.22 trillion, down from just under $3.6 trillion a day earlier.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to Bloomberg, that the drop occurred immediately after the publication of Microsoft's earnings report. Many traders were not impressed. The reaction was harsh. Software-focused investors rushed out of the market, causing the iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF to fall by 5%.

For example, the UBS analyst notes say: "We believe Microsoft needs to prove that these investments were the right ones." The result recorded on Thursday was the worst for the company since 2020. The decline in market value is the second largest drop in scale after Nvidia's $593 bn drop last year following the launch of AI model DeepSeek.
