Pfizer prepares for the largest takeover in history - purchase of Metsera for $7.3 bn

September 22, Fineko/abc.az. American pharmaceutical company Pfizer is close to potential takeover of the manufacturer of weight loss drugs Metsera for $7.3 bn, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Financial Times.

As part of the deal, Pfizer is offering to pay Metsera $47.5 per share and an additional $22.5 per share upon reaching certain targets. Taking into account these amounts, the total size of the transaction may amount to $7.3 bn.

The deal represents a 42.5% premium to the closing price of Metsera securities on Friday, September 19, at $33.32 per share.

The acquisition can be officially announced as early as today, September 22. If successful, this deal will be the largest in Pfizer's history.
