Wine production in Azerbaijan sharply decreased

August 27, Fineko/abc.az. Beverage production in January–June 2025 showed a different dynamic compared to the same period last year.

According to ABC.AZ, citing the State Statistics Committee, production of grape wines sharply declined – from 528,000 decaliters in the first half of last year to 292,600 decaliters in the current year. This is 44.6% less than a year ago.

Wine exports also decreased. In the first six months of 2025, 74,250 decaliters of grape wine (worth $2.23 million) were sold abroad. In the previous year, 75,170 decaliters (worth $2.34 million) had been exported.

Production of whiskey and brandy fell by 12.5% year-on-year, from 311,400 decaliters to 272,500 decaliters. At the same time, growth was observed in the production of certain products. Alcohol production overall grew by 47.7% – from 332,500 decaliters last year to 491,200 decaliters this year. Vodka production increased from 678,400 decaliters to 704,400 decaliters.

Growth in beer production continued, with the volume reaching 2,585.37 decaliters in the first half of the year.
