Holcim Azerbaijan has successfully completed the first selection stage of the national competition “I AM THE MASTER!”. This large-scale project provides an opportunity for skilled workers to showcase their talents, grow professionally, and elevate the status of plastering and bricklaying professions.

From April to June, the competition was held in 8 cities and more than 1,000 masons registered for participation, and approximately 240 were selected to take part at the competition.

Last year’s experience showed that the competition supports professional development. Participants learn new skills, improve their craftsmanship, and gain knowledge of new construction materials such as the TECTOR products. This helps bring innovation directly to the construction site. The winner will earn the title “Master of the Year,” with additional awards presented in other categories.

All tasks were conducted in conditions close to real construction environments and evaluated by a professional jury. Participants demonstrated precision, speed, a modern approach, and a high level of workmanship.

The competition sparked great interest and strong competition among participants. Some of them decided to participate a second time. For example, Nemat Huseyn from Sumgait said: “I really want to win. Last year, I lost in the final. This year I passed the selection round and hope for the best. And if I don't make it again – I’ll try next year.” Mehman Aslanov from Ganja added: “I heard about the competition last year, but didn’t participate. I was skeptical about such things. But when I saw on TikTok that the winner received a car, I decided to give it a try. Now I’ve passed the selection stage and am preparing for the final. I’m nervous whether I’ll manage the task.”

The main goal of the competition is to show that bricklaying and plastering are important and respected professions. Holcim aims to inspire more people to take pride in their craft, keep learning, and apply modern technologies in construction. The company also promotes environmentally friendly solutions for individual housing.
