May 5, Fineko/abc.az. An unknown hacker stole information about users of the TeleMessage application, which is used by the U.S. government to archive messages from high-ranking officials. The application, developed by an Israeli company, modifies versions of Signal and other messengers for the needs of government agencies.

ABC.AZ informs that among the stolen data were messages, names and contact information of employees of the border and customs service and other American institutions. The hacker also gained access to data related to the Coinbase digital currency exchange.

Earlier, U.S. officials claimed that Russia and China may be trying to gain unauthorized access to the Signal messenger, which will once again raise questions about the security of communications in US government agencies.

Such a statement came after Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, told how he became an accidental participant in confidential correspondence between representatives of the American administration discussing plans for strikes against the Yemeni Houthis.
