January 31, Fineko/abc.az. If the BRICS countries create their own currency and refuse to use the American dollar in mutual settlements, they will face 100% tariffs on the import of goods into the U.S., ABC.AZ reports, quoting U.S. President Donald Trump.
"We will require these probably hostile countries to commit not to create a new BRICS currency or support any other currency to replace the powerful US dollar, otherwise they will face 100% duties and will have to say goodbye to sales to the beautiful US economy," Trump wrote in his telegram channel.
According to Trump, "there is no chance that the BRICS will replace the US dollar in international trade". Any country that tries to do this "should welcome the duties and say goodbye to America".
At the same time, the American president warned that one should not expect Washington to "just stand and watch" the process.
